Sag Harbor

"Or you could embrace the contradiction, say, what you call paradox, I call myself. In theory. Those inclined to this remedy didn't have many models."

Christmas in Bethesda

the winter holidays complete with over two feet of powdery snow.

Dear Yale, Stop it.

Have some dignity, Yale. Good lord.

The best part is the comments ("Well it looks like Harvard for me.")

Ever had Tsingtao Beer?

Last spring break, in March '09, I went to the home of Tsingtao Beer. Here's what I found in Qingdao, China:

Right at the entrance of a park/temple, there was a handful of men selling the same fruit, in this same set up. The man at this stand let us (me and my tourguides) taste some of the asian pear before we bought a bag full. I knew I was making a huge mistake eating a slice of asian pear that was cut with the man's pocket knife. Shockingly, I didn't get sick. But that doesn't mean I didnt pre-empt with a pepto bismol.

Our prize at the top of the mountain (which took us days to climb). Green tea. The woman at the shop told illustrious stories of the various green tea leaves and the nuances of flavor. Too bad it was all in chinese.

My tourguides. See that sign?

My thoughts: Oh. God.

The 'May Wind' (五月风) Sculpture in the May 4th Square. I was...a little fixated. This square was perhaps the most interesting area there.

I tangled a kite that a salesman let me try here. Oops.

A wedding is not complete without a white violin. On deadly rock terrain.

The May 4th Square at night, from my hotel window.

Snack. Of. Champions.

The ultimate in hygenic toilets.

Complete with heated seat.

Notice anything weird? Like being able to see into the bedroom from the bathroom and vice versa?

Drink. Of. Champions. (Not really, but naturally it reminds me of being here)

And now, Beijing:

Tiananmen Square

Forbidden City. In detail.

The only picture I have of the woman who showed me around Beijing. She was so sweet. Acted like a mom. I miss her.

Obligatory. Mixed feelings.

Summer Palace.

Reminds me of DC.

Poetry.

Written in water.

I like your hat, sir.

I dream of going back. I dream of Hong Kong. And Spain. And having money to travel.
